Road Surfacing
Subdivision road paving, mill-and-overlay and full reconstruction to City of Edmonton and rural municipality specifications.
What We Offer
Roads built to last twenty years
Road surfacing falls into three categories: new subdivision builds (developer needs municipal sign-off), mill-and-overlay (sound base, surface failure), and full reconstruction (structure has failed).
River Valley Contracting works to City of Edmonton standards inside city limits, and to Strathcona County, Parkland County and Leduc County specifications outside.
400 mm granular sub-base, 150 mm HL8 binder course and 50 mm HL3 surface course on subdivision roads. QC density tested on every layer with reports for municipal sign-off.

Frequently asked
Common questions
Which option do I need?
Good cores with surface failure → mill-and-overlay. Failing base → reconstruction. Greenfield → new build to spec.
Do you handle municipal sign-off?
Yes. River Valley Contracting works directly with the municipal engineer and submits QC density reports and material certifications.
Can the road stay open?
Mill-and-overlay: single-lane closures with flag persons. New builds and reconstructions: full closures with traffic management plan.
How long does a typical job take?
500 m mill-and-overlay: 3 to 5 working days. 500 m new build with curb-and-gutter: 6 to 8 weeks.
Do you work in winter?
Asphalt plants close late October to early April. Paving scheduled for the open season; winter for project planning and curb work.
Acreage roads?
Yes. Rural acreage and farm access roads designed to lighter base than subdivision spec, sized to your loading.
