Metal Roofing
Standing seam and corrugated steel roofs installed to CRCA detail standards. 50-year paint warranty, hail rated, snow-shedding designed for Alberta winters.
What We Offer
Metal roofs that outlast the house
Standing seam steel panels with concealed clips and corrugated agricultural-profile steel give Edmonton homeowners a 60 to 80-year service life — roughly two-and-a-half asphalt replacement cycles. The premium up front pays back through avoided re-roofs and meaningful insurance discounts on hail-prone properties.
River Valley Contracting installs 24 to 26-gauge Galvalume base steel with Kynar 500 or SMP factory paint. Both ship with 30 to 50-year manufacturer warranties registered in your name. Detailing follows CRCA standards: high-temperature underlayment, snow guards above doors, thermal-movement-aware fastening.
Metal needs different detailing than shingles. We do not subcontract metal installs to general roofers — our crews are trained on metal-specific details so the roof performs to its 50-year promise.

Frequently asked
Common questions
Is a metal roof noisy in rain?
No — over a solid deck with high-temperature underlayment, standing seam metal is actually quieter than asphalt. Open-purlin agricultural installs are noisy; residential installs over deck are not.
How does cost compare to asphalt?
Roughly 2 to 2.5 times the up-front cost. Over a 60-year window you would replace shingles two to three times against one metal install, so lifetime cost is competitive.
Will it discount my home insurance?
Many Alberta insurers offer 10 to 25% off the roof portion for impact-rated metal. River Valley Contracting provides the documentation your insurer requires.
Do I need snow guards?
Above doors, walkways, eavestroughs and HVAC units — yes. We assess each roof during the quote and recommend exact positions.
What colour options are available?
25+ standard Kynar colours plus custom matching for heritage homes. We bring physical samples to the site visit.
How long does install take?
3 to 5 working days for a typical Edmonton bungalow; longer for larger or multi-pitch roofs.
