Flat and Low-Slope Roofing
Single-ply TPO, EPDM rubber and SBS-modified bitumen for commercial and residential flat roofs. Drainage corrected, flood-tested.
What We Offer
Flat roofs that actually stay dry
Flat roofs fail for predictable reasons in Edmonton: ponding water that freezes, failed parapet and penetration details, or under-spec insulation. River Valley Contracting addresses all three on every install.
TPO single-ply is the default new install — 60-mil membrane, heat-welded seams, 20-year manufacturer warranty. EPDM and SBS-modified bitumen for specific roof conditions. Recommended based on the building, not what is on the truck.
Drainage is corrected during install and the finished membrane is flood-tested on commercial work before sign-off.

Everything included in the price
No hidden extras. Every item below is included in your written estimate.
Roof survey + core sample
Photographic survey plus core sample where appropriate to confirm the existing build-up beneath the membrane.
Tear-off / overlay decision
Tear-off where insulation is wet or compressed; overlay where the base is sound. Honest recommendation.
Insulation upgrade
Re-insulate to current National Energy Code values during membrane replacement — best ROI.
Membrane install
TPO, EPDM or torch-down placed and detailed to manufacturer spec.
Penetration detailing
Curbs, vents and HVAC stands get pre-fabricated boot details, not field-cut patches.
Flood test + sign-off
Commercial installs flood-tested before sign-off so pinhole leaks are caught.
Frequently asked
Common questions
How long do flat roofs last?
Properly installed TPO or EPDM lasts 25 to 30 years; SBS-modified bitumen 20 to 25. Failures inside 10 years are install quality, not membrane lifespan.
TPO vs EPDM vs torch-down?
TPO reflects heat and welds into a single sheet; EPDM is the most forgiving and proven; torch-down handles heavy traffic and complex detailing. River Valley Contracting recommends based on your building.
Can you fix ponding water?
Yes — by adding tapered insulation to re-slope, or by adding new drains. We core-sample to confirm what the existing build-up can support.
Do you handle commercial roofs?
Yes — from 200 sq ft garage tops up to industrial roofs of 40,000 sq ft. Same crew, same materials, scaled appropriately.
Will my building be useable during work?
Yes. Work is scheduled to minimise impact on the building below; dust and debris contained; never left open overnight.
What is the warranty?
Manufacturer warranty to 20 years on the membrane plus 10-year workmanship warranty from River Valley Contracting.
